Job Description

Responsible for the tools/services/team that automates infrastructure deployment, manages application configuration and provides customer support. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and documenting automation tools and processes
  • Creating and managing the infrastructure
  • Building monitoring scripts to monitor infrastructure, processes, platform and applications, troubleshooting deployments, documenting issues and solutions
  • Supporting Developer Operations, Production Operations and Customer Service Desk
  • Leading a team of DevOps, ProdOps and Customer Solution Delivery/QA engineer
  • Managing tasks and issues within an agile environment
  • Managing issue tracking, escalations and internal reporting

Key Experience & Skills of the Candidate

  • 8-10 years of experience in design, implementation and ownership/leadership of broad range of AWS EC2/VPC services, DevOps, ProdOps and Customer Service Desk solutions.
  • Experience leading a team of AWS, DevOps, ProdOps, Customer Support Desk engs wrt technology/tasks/schedules, and with the ability to be 50% time hands-on on the work
  • Strong knowledge of Linux OS (Ubuntu Server preferred)
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (using Python, bash, etc.)
  • Experience in design and implementation for High Availability, Resiliency, Backups and Disaster Recovery on Cloud
  • Solid understanding of OS, Networking and Internet Protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and routing in distributed networks, web frameworks
  • Configuration management using tools like Salt, Puppet, Chef, Ansible (good hands-on on any one of these, Ansible is preferred), Deployment automation with Ansible
  • Docker Containers, Automating container image creation process, build and deployment in a container environment
  • Container Schedulers like Kubernetes, Openshift, ECS (Good hands-on on any one of these, Kubernetes will be big plus)
  • Experience managing Customer Service Desk for software products and global clients.
  • Tools expertise in multiple areas: (i) Log management tools like Logstash/ElasticSearch, Splunk, or similar, (ii) Metrics collection tools like Ganglia, Graphite, or similar; (iii) Build tools like Jenkins and Bamboo (Jenkins is preferred), (ii) Code development platform Git, various Github workflows; (iv) Monitoring solutions like Monit, Nagios
  • Experience working with cross-site (India-US) Agile product engineering teams
  • Proven ability and desire to deliver projects on time with high quality
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Able to cope with and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic work environment with evolving project requirements
  • Ability to understand complex programs/environments in short period of time, multi-task and quickly adapt to new requirements
  • Ability to periodically be on-call duty (there will be no night-shift, however few calls may extend to late evenings, and in emergency situations it will be expected to stay up late)
  • Self-driven, motivated and confident with personable approach. Ability to stand ground in discussions and raise questions
  • Willingness to travel internationally for a few weeks or months if needed
  • A passion to learn to learn, improve & implement services within the cloud, deliver new products/features to the market and have a big impact

B.Tech/BE/BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree (Electrical/Electronics/etc. Eng). Masters degree is preferred.
